Call for papers

Call for papers 9 (2021)
The past, the present and the future of Gestalt Therapy

The issue 9 of the Journal GTK is scheduled for July 2021 and coincides with a double anniversary: the first one concerns us specifically since it is the 40th anniversary of our Institute’s foundation, formerly Institute of Gestalt HCC and now Institute of Gestalt Therapy Kairos; the second anniversary involves the whole Gestalt community, and it is the 70th anniversary of the first publication of “Gestalt Therapy. Excitement and growth in the human personality” by Perls, Hefferline and Goodman.

We decided to celebrate this anniversary transforming the next issue of the Journal in a special monographic edition and creating, through the scientific contributions we will collect, an ideal international round table discussion with those Institutes we collaborated with in the last decades. Our aim is to shape together a depiction of Gestalt Therapy’s evolution.

Asking some world-renowned Gestalt therapists to participate, we want to open a debate about the most interesting changes that have occurred in Gestalt Therapy theory and practice, tracing a path through past, present and future, with particular regard to the evolution occurred within the various Institutes of the world.
In the last 40 years our Institute grew thanks to research and experimentation and developed Gestalt Therapy potentiality in order to pull innovative and effective ideas and practices to be applied when working with children, families, trauma, people with borderline personality disorder, and so on.
These will be the main topics of the discussion, like a diachronic and synchronic rendezvous about the development of Gestalt Therapy, with a type of awareness which remains loyal to the lesson of our teacher Isadore From: time will make emerge the unknown richness of Gestalt Therapy and only through an intimate – loyal and creative – evolution it will be possible to take possession progressively of the theoretical and clinical potentiality of Gestalt Therapy, that, after 70 years, is even more lively and intriguing.
